How It Works

Four steps to get your money back

The entire process takes under a minute. Steam does the heavy lifting and we handle the refund automatically.

1
Step 1

Rent any skin

Browse our catalog and rent any skin, single items or full bundles. No commitment beyond the weekly price.

2
Step 2

Decide to return early and save

Decide you want your money back. Maybe you only needed the skin for a day or two, or the full week just is not worth it. Go to Current Rentals in your profile.

3
Step 3

Complete the Steam reversal

Follow our 3-step guide to trigger Steam's native trade reversal. Visit Steam's restore page, click one button, come back and confirm. Takes about 30 seconds.

Steam reverses all trade-protected trades in your account, not just your RentaSkin rental.

Step 4

Receive your automatic refund

Once Steam confirms the reversal, we detect it automatically and issue your partial refund to your original payment method. No action needed on your end.

One reversal covers all your active rentals

Steam's trade reversal is account-wide and affects every trade-protected trade in your inventory at once. If you have multiple separate rentals active, say a knife, a rifle, and gloves each rented individually, returning early refunds all of them together. You cannot pick and choose which ones to return.

Note: a bundle counts as a single trade and is always returned as one unit. This is separate from having multiple individual rentals active at the same time.

Other trade-protected trades on your account outside of RentaSkin are also reversed. Steam makes no exceptions.

Why renting multiple skins at once makes sense

Rent several skins separately

Rent a knife, gloves, and a rifle as individual rentals. Return early and you get a partial refund on all of them in one move.

Bigger spend, bigger saving

The more you have active, the more you save when you return early. The refund scales with your total spend.

No partial limbo

You're never stuck with some returned and others not. Everything resets cleanly at once.

Refund Tiers

The earlier you return, the more you save

Refunds are calculated from when Steam confirms the trade reversal, so don't wait too long.

Important Details

What you need to know

The early return feature is simple and safe. Read this before you trigger it.

Valve does not care why you use this feature

The trade restore feature was originally designed to protect users from scam trades, but Valve places no restriction on what reason you use it for. You are free to use it to return a rental early, save money, or any other reason. The 30-day trade ban is the full and intended cost Valve built into the system. There is no secondary punishment, no strike on your account, and no risk of escalation.

This is confirmed both in Valve's own documentation and widely by the CS2 community. RentaSkin also uses this system on our own trade bots. We would not do that if repeated use carried any risk of account action.

It reverses every trade-protected trade on your account

When you trigger the Steam reversal, Steam undoes all eligible trade-protected trades, not just the skin you rented from us. If you received other items via trade in the same period, those will be reversed too.

You get a temporary 30-day trade ban

After reversal, Steam places a 30-day trading restriction on your account. This is Steam's built-in cost for using the feature, not a punishment. The ban lifts automatically after 30 days.

You can still play, only trading is restricted

The trade ban only affects sending and receiving trade offers. You can still play CS2, use Steam, buy and sell on the Community Market, and do everything else normally.

No risk of a permanent ban

Valve officially confirms this feature is free to use and carries no risk of a permanent account action. The 30-day trade restriction is the entire consequence, by design.
